Florida Oral to A G Bell Florida Time Line
1967 – Florida Oral was founded as a support group for families of deaf and hard of hearing children and it evolved to include deaf or hard of hearing adults, parents, educators, administrators, audiologists and other professionals.
09/13/67 – Support group incorporated as Florida Oral Education for the Hearing Impaired, Inc. a non-profit, tax exempt organization.
1988 – Florida Oral was host to the A G Bell International Convention held in Orlando. Members served on committees and helped with the activities and programs, during, before and after the convention. More than 1,500 people attended and were from around the world. The convention was a wonderful success and those attending were treated to a luau at Sea World and discounts at Disney World.
09/23/00 – Chapter board of directors formally voted to change Florida Oral to A.G. Bell Florida.
03/16/01 – Florida Oral officially became A G Bell Florida, Inc. a chapter of Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc., based in Washington, D.C.
03/23/02 – Florida Oral Education for the Hearing Impaired, Inc. was officially dissolved by the consent of the board of directors.
